Proper handling is fundamental to the long-term care and preservation of your art. To preserve your prints it is important to avoid any unnecessary handling or movement of framed prints.
We recommend the following:
- Do not open your packaged print until you take it to your local framer or have a frame ready
- Upon opening the tube or flat lay packaging - please inspect the art and report any damages or suspected damages to us right away
- Handle only one object at a time, regardless of the size
- Always use both hands when carrying artworks and avoid touching the image area of the photograph
- Keep the piece upright and do not carry the works from the top to bottom, only handle the piece holding the sides
- For larger prints specifically please ensure two people handle the prints, one holding the left side and one holding the right
- Avoid touching the corners
- Using gloves, ideally cotton, hold the art piece on the left and right hand side. Even if your hands are clean, they produce oil and art is easily damaged or compromised
FRAMING
Framing behind glass (or perspex) is the ideal destination for your print and provides the most sustainable protection.
To maintain the longevity of pigment ink on archival papers we recommend keeping it in a dry, cool environment, and out of direct sunlight.
In warmer climates, or artwork placed above or near a heat source, condensation can occur inside the frame. This will not damage the print if framed with the print recessed.
CLEANING
We do not recommend cleaning pieces routinely, only when required remove any fingerprints and only clean affected areas.
